For Your Child!

WASHINGTON STATE PTA RECOGNIZES APOLLO ELEMENTARY WITH THE PLATINUM MEMBERSHIP GROWTH AWARD!

Apollo Elementary PTA has recently been recognized by Washington State PTA as a Platinum Membership Growth Award recipient! PTAs are presented with this award for enrolling at least 20% more members this year compared to last year. That means our PTA is growing! Thank you to everyone who has become a member so far this year: YOU are the reason our PTA achieved this award! If you haven’t yet signed up for a 2021-2022 PTA membership, please consider joining today! By doing so, you are demonstrating your support for our PTA and all it does for Apollo Elementary.

It’s time for another exciting school year to start and an important part of Apollo Elementary is our PTA.

Apollo Elementary’s PTA supports critical academic needs, is an active voice on decisions that impact your child’s health, safety and quality of education, and builds a stronger, more inclusive school community.

There is no wrong or right way to be involved – anything you can give, whether it’s time or money, will support your child’s potential. We invite you to join because we can do more together than apart. It only takes 5 minutes:

Apollo Playground Update
Thanks to your generous funds raised December 2019-May 2021, Apollo was able to gift the district $27,509.69.  Due to COVID, equipment price increases and such, it involved the district getting additional bids for playgrounds.  The good news is we are scheduled to have the old playground equipment removed during February's mid-winter break.  Depending on supply chain issues, we are hoping to have the new playground completed mid to late March 2022.  We are all so excited since this is many years in the making!  We will keep you updated on the progress of the playground as we get information from the district.  Thank you so much to all who believed and donated to this project!
Thanks, Kristi Hammond, Apollo PTA Alumna

LEVY 2022

Our current levy will expire December 31, 2022. The School Board approved to have the renewal levy on the ballot in April. Ballots will be due April 26th. This levy must pass in order to continue programs for our 2022-2023 school year and beyond (this is a 4-year levy, so will fund through 2026). What are School Levies? What is VIS? What does the Levy Pay For?

Click HERE for a list of what is funded by our local Issaquah School District Levies (see attached PDF on this email of page 12 with the programs listed).

The ISD Levy Development Committee is made up of representatives from every school, local business representatives, and community members are meeting from December 2021 to January 2022 to form a recommendation for a levy package for 2022 ballot measures. The committee will present its recommendation to Superintendent Ron Thiele, who will bring the final recommendation to the Issaquah School Board for approval at the Jan. 27, 2022 School Board Meeting. The Levy Development Committee will consider the proposed content, total cost and tax impact of three ballot measures: an Educational Programs and Operations Levy (formerly called the Maintenance and Operations Levy), a Capital (Technology and Critical Repairs) Levy, and a Transportation (Bus) Levy. Click HERE for information, agendas, notes and details.

Any comments, questions about the levy package, please encourage your community to email Levy2022@issaquah.wednet.edu. All comments will be shared with the committee members for discussion.
